About the Orthopedic Neurology Unit (4NW):
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients? 4NW at Waukesha Memorial Hospital is a 31-bed mixed acuity care unit specializing in the dynamic care of orthopedic and neurological patients.
- Orthopedic Care: Treat patients recovering from traumatic fractures, extremity injuries, and back pain, including post-surgical joint patients requiring safe and early mobilization.
- Neurology Care: Care for medical and surgical neurological patients, including stroke, movement disorders, traumatic brain and spinal injuries, and neurosurgical cases.
Our team is NIHSS stroke certified, and all caregivers receive specialized training to ensure safe, high-quality care for our patients. We are proud to represent two Centers of Excellence recognized by the Joint Commission:
- Joint Replacement Center of Excellence (Hip & Knee)
- Stroke Center of Excellence
Schedule Details: 0.6 FTE - weekend program days (0700-1930). Weekend Program is eligible for a $10 per hour differential.
What You Will Do:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver compassionate, patient- and family-centered care in a collaborative, supportive environment. You’ll integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical expertise to care for diverse patient populations, utilizing a systematic and thoughtful approach. You’ll also:
- Provide professional nursing care on 4NW and potentially other clinical areas as required by staffing needs.
- Supervise and direct delegated nursing tasks in alignment with educational preparation and abilities.
- Apply critical thinking skills to respond to patient needs and clinical situations with expertise and empathy.
What You Will Need:
- Education:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wisconsin.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- NIHSS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
