Registered Nurse – Outpatient Neuroscience Clinic | Part-Time | Waukesha Memorial Hospital

This position offers a perfect schedule for those looking for work-life balance with day shifts (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM). You’ll work with neurology patients, particularly those with Multiple Sclerosis, handling essential phone triage for medication refills, prior authorizations, appointments, and providing ongoing medication management and patient education.

 

Department Overview:

Our Neuroscience Department serves around 400-500 outpatient visits each month, operating across two locations: Waukesha Memorial Hospital and the Outpatient Physician Center in Oconomowoc. We offer specialized services, including:

  • Medical pain management
  • Stroke follow-up care
  • Multiple Sclerosis treatment
  • Concussion and brain injury care

 

You’ll be part of a dedicated team of:

  • 2 physiatrists
  • 2 psychologists
  • 2 advanced practice nurse prescribers
  • 5 registered nurses
  • 4 clerical staff

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide phone triage services for Multiple Sclerosis patients, including managing medication refills, prior authorizations, and coordinating appointments.
  • Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care.
  • Support patients and families by offering guidance on medication management and care coordination for neurological conditions.

 

Schedule:

  • Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • No weekends, holidays, or nights.
  • Part-time with benefits, with primary work at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and occasional support at the Outpatient Physician Center in Oconomowoc.

 

Requirements:

  • RN License: Valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse license required.
  • BLS Certification: Active AHA BLS certification required.
  • Experience: Neurology or neuroscience experience preferred but not required.

What You Will Do:

The Clinical Nurse is a competent practitioner who integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical experience in the care of patients and families.  Care is delivered using a deliberate, systematic approach and practice is guided by increasing awareness of patterns of patient responses in recurrent situations.  These nurses demonstrate a mastery of most technical skills and begin to view clinical situations from a patient and family focus as they provide professional nursing care within clinical areas/ campuses as required by staffing matrices.  These nurses also supervise and direct delegated nursing acts commensurate with educational preparation and demonstrated abilities of the person supervised. 

 

What You Will Need:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse License
  • Valid American Heart (AHA) Basic Life Support ( BLS) certification.
