Phlebotomist, Lab Outreach - Waukesha - 0.4 FTE, Days

ProHealth Care offers a system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County and performs over 8 million tests annually.
Our Lab services operate out of state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology.  ProHealth Care offers a vibrant outreach program, providing laboratory testing to numerous specialty hospitals, physician offices, and nursing home facilities.  We have PhDs on site who work closely with lab employees to monitor quality, identify, access, and implement new technology.   The Laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Joint Commission (JCAHO), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).


Hours: Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 5:00am-9:00am and on-call 1 in every 6 weeks from 11:00pm-4:00am from Sunday evening to the following Saturday evening Outreach phlebotomy driving to local senior living facilities to procure blood specimens from residents. Driving AWD Laboratory Vehicle.

The Outreach Phlebotomist/ Clinical Lab Assistant performs specimen procurement procedures in various off-site locations. Procures blood specimens from patients by means of venipuncture or capillary collection. Provides patient instruction relative to collection of non-blood specimens. Performs and results waived testing. Processes specimens in preparation for testing in the core laboratory.


  • Efficiently performs venipuncture and capillary collections with minimum discomfort and according to established policies and procedures.

  • Independently procures specimens at off-site locations.

  • Establishes positive identification of the patient prior to performing procedures.

  • Accurately and completely labels specimens according to established laboratory policies and procedures.

  • Appropriately prioritizes specimen collection requests. Responds to Stat, timed and routine specimen collection requests in a timely manner as ordered.

  • Processes specimens for testing in the laboratory.



  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma/ GED required.

  • Valid Driver's License required.

  • Phlebotomy experience required.
