Schedule Details: Variable start times and end times to include weekends, your work assignment could be as follows 7am to 3:30pm, 8am to 2pm, 1:30pm to 6:30pm, 4pm to 10:30pm, 5pm to 10:30pm. Weekends 8am to 2:30pm, 2:30pm to 9pm  

 

About Us:

 

ProHealth Care offers a system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County. The laboratory performs over 8 million tests annually.

 

Our Lab services operate state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology.  ProHealth Care offers a vibrant outreach program, providing laboratory testing to numerous specialty hospitals, physician offices, nursing home, and assisted living facilities.  Our Pathologists and PhDs  work closely with lab employees to monitor quality, as well as identify, access, and implement new technology.   The Laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).

What You Will Do:

Provides quality service to customers of ProHealth Care Laboratories. Effectively utilizes the laboratory and hospital information systems to respond to customer inquiries and requests.  Responsible for accurate and efficient receipt, processing and distribution of specimens, registration of outreach specimens, and confirmation of valid orders.  Must have the ability to work at various PHC Lab locations as needed.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Demonstrates understanding and effective use of the laboratory and hospital information systems for inquiry, order entry, test cancellation, documentation and collection in support of laboratory services.
  • Initiates patient registrations in the hospital information system and confirms payment coverage including the initiation of insurance/managed care authorizations.
  • Verifies receipt of valid orders.
  • Monitors and responds to result reporting queues for errors.
  • Monitors and responds to result callback and faxback requests.
  • Answers telephones promptly.  Maintains a consistently pleasant telephone demeanor when responding to client calls, questions or inquiries.  Utilizes tact and discretion in client interactions.
  • Performs specimen processing to ensure accurate and timely receipt and prompt distribution of specimens in the appropriate departments following established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares specimens for analysis or reference laboratories using established procedures.
  • Assists with loading analyzers in various departments.
  • Accurately and completely labels specimens according to established laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Dispatches customer requests to couriers/phlebotomists utilizing the GPS navigation system.
  • Maintains accessibility of reference material related to specimen requirements for tests performed by the laboratory and reference laboratories.
  • Plans and organizes workflow relative to specimen priorities to support consistent and appropriate processes to meet clinical needs and assure customer satisfaction.
  • Interacts with other hospital department, nursing units and customers to address patient specimen concerns timely.
  • Takes appropriate action to communicate insufficient or unacceptable specimens with customers.
  • Serves as a resource to laboratory staff, nursing personnel and customers, providing technical expertise in problem-solving activities related to collection and processing activities.
  • Maintains customer specimen collection supplies and forms inventory as needed, monitoring expiration dates and ordering, if required.
  • Fills supply requests and packages for distribution to customers.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area.  Monitors bio-hazard containers and discards sealed contains in the appropriate location.
  • Monitors refrigerator temperatures.


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
