Schedule Details: This shift is a mixture of AMs and PMs (first and second shift) with alternating weekend and holiday staffing requirements. 

 

What You Will Do:

Following established policies and procedures, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Technician prepares and distributes medication and performs functions essential to the operations of the pharmacy department.

Inpatient Technicians at the tier l level perform basic pharmaceutical duties and work under the direct supervision of registered Pharmacists.  Technicians need to be proficient in basic mathematical and pharmaceutical calculations as well as computer and telephone skills. They will provide accurate, independent work and have the ability to interact well with other healthcare personnel as part of the ProHealth Care team.  All Technicians will demonstrate competence in loading and troubleshooting Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs), proper and accurate selection of drug products, nonsterile drug preparation and accurate controlled substance handling as well as work proficiently with multiple software systems within the department. 

Technicians at the tier ll level will perform the above functions as well as prove competent in USP 797 guidelines for sterile compounding, follow all proper IV room procedures and assist in monthly terminal cleans and as needed triple cleans of the IV rooms. 

Technicians at the tier lll level will perform the same functions as a tech l and ll and prove competent in USP 800 guidelines for sterile, hazardous/chemo compounding. 

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • PTCB certification preferred or must obtain certification within 2 years from hire date as a condition of employment
  • Tech tier ll: A minimum of 2 years prior IV room experience preferred
  • Tech tier lll: A minimum of 2 years prior hazardous/chemo compounding experience preferred
