Schedule Details: Monday - Friday 7-3:30pm with a specialty focus on Sterile Processing equipment. 

 

Job Summary

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, modification, demonstration, and repair of general complex diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices. Assists with the training to clinical departments and technical support to clinical departments in area of expertise. Performs basic technical and advisory work with clinical departments to assist in the development of processes/procedures relative to clinical use of technologies.

Responsibilities

Implements the preventive maintenance programs on medical electronic equipment so as to keep equipment safe and in accurate condition according to department policy, applicable codes, and manufacturer’s recommendations.
 
Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices utilizing established electronic test and measurement equipment, and techniques. Assist the Senior Biomedical Electronics Technician when necessary to complete complex task that require additional assistance.
 
Maintains accurate inventory by performing routine audits
 
Keeps preventive maintenance procedures up-to-date in a timely manner
 
Keeps service literature up-to-date on assigned equipment
 
Communicates status of programming to those involved
 
Has technical knowledge of assigned equipment
 
Uses troubleshooting techniques so as to locate the problem in as timely a manner as possible
 
Has an understanding of the potential hazards involved with electronic equipment, and works in a safe manner so as to avoid them
 
Performs repairs in a safe, cost-effective manner
 
Keeps Customers/Leadership informed as to the status of the repair
 
Respond to customer service problems by personally investigating and resolving such problems with the parties involved, utilizing computer databases and paper tracking systems, to assure customer satisfaction.
 
Monitors work done by outside service vendors in their area
 
Responds to emergencies as needed
 
Provides operator training on equipment as needed
 
May respond to off-hour emergencies when needed
 
May participate in construction or special projects related to medical equipment.
 

 

 

 

Education

Associate's Degree (or other 2-year degree)

Additional Requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license, maintain a safe driving record and be at least 21 years old.

Ability to use own vehicle for transportation between work sites.

Preferred certification(s):

Biomed Equip Tech Cert (CBET)

Lab Equipment Specialist Certification (CLES)

Radiology Equipment Specialist Cert (CRES)

Certification by the ICC (International Certification Commission for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology)

CBET (Certification for Biomedical Equipment Technicians)

CRES (Certification for Radiology Equipment Specialists)

CLES (Certification for Clinical Laboratory Specialists)

 

 

What You Will Do:

What you will need:

  • Associates degree in electronics OR biomedical equipment technology OR military training in biomedical equipment technology, OR equivalent experience obtained through original manufacturer training.
  • Valid State of Wisconsin Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to use own vehicle for travel during workday between work sites.
  • Previous biomedical engineering experience preferred.
  • Certification(s) preferred:
    • Biomed Equip Tech Cert (CBET)
    • Lab Equipment Specialist Certification (CLES)
    • Radiology Equipment Specialist Cert (CRES)
    • Certification by the ICC (International Certification Commission for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology)
    • CBET (Certification for Biomedical Equipment Technicians)
    • CRES (Certification for Radiology Equipment Specialists)
    • CLES (Certification for Clinical Laboratory Specialists)
