What You Will Do:

The Certified Nursing Assistant/Health Unit Coordinator works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and assists in the general nursing care of patients, provides customer service and clerical support to the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families. Enters charge data and supports department operations.

ProHealth Care provides inpatient and outpatient care to a diverse patient population. To be successful, a passion for caring for patients and working with people is a must. The individual must have excellent communication and organizational skills, have a commitment to patient service and be a strong team player. Key boarding and computer skills required. Strong customer service skills essential. The candidate must display a positive and upbeat attitude about themselves, work and team.

  • Performs charge entry on patient accounts to ensure charges are accurate and ethical.
  • Uses HUC and Clerical Staff tools and resources provided by ProHealth Care to determine chargeable items.
  • Reconciles the prior day's activity daily to ensure charge entry accuracy.
  • collecting admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) forms (e.g. Important Message from Medicare, Consent to Admit, Patient Rights and Responsibilities form, patient location and status) and updates the electronic medical record.
  • Facilitates department operations by dispatching health care team resources.
  • Answer, prioritize, and direct phone calls including paging and logging health care team responses.
  • Provides exceptional patient and family centered care under the guidance of the RN.  
  • Assists patients in completing activities of daily living promoting physical, psychological, environmental comfort and safety. 
  • Receives verbal or written assignments including delegated job responsibilities from the RN.
  • Reviews information in the EHR for additional information. Seeks clarification from appropriate resources.
  • Reports unusual observations or changes in patient condition to the RN, collaborating to meet the safety needs of the patient in a timely fashion.
  • Assists with systematic, on-going, data collection with required documentation in the EHR.  
  • Prioritizes patient requests. Organizes and completes patient care assignments as delegated by the RN within the timeframe provided.
  • Considerate of fiscal resources, uses efficiently and prevents waste of supplies, linens, ect. 
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in a professional, collegial manner.  
  • Assists with environmental and patient rounding. Cleaning of equipment and environment. Requests equipment and environmental maintenance as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to solve problems and seeks resources appropriately when questions occur.
  • Carefully manages, organizes and completes work in spite of interruptions and requests by others.  Able to balance patient care assignment including admissions, transfers and discharges. 
  • Delivers care in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to client diversity, while preserving and protecting client autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Adheres to organizational practices relating to confidentiality.                      
  • Updates EHR with admission, discharge and transfer information. Documents patient form collection in patient record. 
  • Supports the healthcare team by answering phone, confirming consults as requested, entering unit charges, patient assignments and ordering supplies.
