Our PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital prepares residents through individualized training in a wide variety of care settings. This program focuses on skill-building, evidence-based medicine, and preparing graduates for advanced roles in pharmacy practice.

ProHealth Care offers hands-off, observational job shadow opportunities for those interested in health care careers. These experiences, typically lasting 4 hours or less, allow participants to observe a health professional's daily routine and gain valuable insight into the field.

For the safety of patients, staff, and students, ProHealth Care offers observation opportunities only to participants aged 16 and older. Students must complete health screenings, confidentiality agreements, and other necessary paperwork to ensure a safe environment. To be considered for a job shadow, please complete the online form at least 4 weeks before your requested date.

ProHealth Care partners with academic institutions to offer high-quality clinical placements and hands-on learning experiences. Our programs help students build experience in real care environments.

What types of placements do we offer?

• Preceptorships: One-to-one learning with a primary mentor
• Clinical Groups: Group placements from the same school, accompanied by an instructor

How can you request placement?

All requests are submitted through the Student Portal.

• Submit at least six weeks before your start date
• Approval is based on department discretion, availability, and timing
• You’ll receive an email once your request is processed

ProHealth Care's Health Care Ambassador program is a unique opportunity for students who have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in health care. These students will have the opportunity to serve as ambassadors on behalf of ProHealth Care throughout the school year and upon successful participation in the program will be awarded the opportunity to participate in special on-site learning opportunities throughout the school year at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

How can students participate?

Ambassadors should demonstrate the following qualifications:

• Strong interest in pursuing a career in health care
• Comfortable working with teachers, peers and professionals
• Strong communication skills
• Leadership skills

Volunteer opportunities can be a great way to get exposure to a variety of health care experiences.

At ProHealth Care volunteers must:

• Be at least 17 years old to volunteer at the Brookfield Pediatric Rehabilitation Clinic, UW Health Cancer Center at ProHealth Care and ProHealth Medical Group in Mukwonago or Pewaukee.
• Be at least 18 years old to volunteer at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital, ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and AngelsGrace Hospice.
• Be able to make a six-month and/or 100-hour commitment
• Agree to a criminal background check
• Receive a free health assessment
• Complete a tuberculosis (TB) test
• Receive an influenza (flu) shot
• Complete our volunteer orientation and training

Some volunteer positions may have additional requirements. Onboarding for new volunteers takes place in April and October to ensure hours minimums are met.

The Waukesha Family Medicine Residency develops exceptional family physicians who deliver compassionate, full-spectrum, family-centered care.
