Responsibilities

• Apply time management principles throughout each shift in order to meet the department’s and organization’s efficiency goals.
• Apply appropriate infectious disease control principles at all times.
• Receives and interprets referrals for speech/language. Clarifies and/or adjusts by collaborating directly with referring practitioners. Records phone/verbal orders per ProHealth Care policies & procedures.
• Evaluate each patient by reviewing his/her medical history, conducting an assessment of the patient’s functional communication ability, swallowing and related impairments.  Identifies any precautions and/or contraindications to specific speech therapy interventions.
• Establish a speech/language pathology plan of care that includes SLP interventions, duration of care, and frequency of visits. The plan also outlines patient centered and functional goals. Uses current best practice information and sound clinical judgment.
Collaborates with other care providers to establish an interdisciplinary care plan when appropriate.
• Reassess each patient’s condition at each visit. Modifies the SLP plan of care based on reassessment findings.
• Determine when discharge is appropriate and facilitates discharge from SLP service.
• Document all SLP care provided following ProHealth Care policies & procedures.
• Determine appropriate charges for each patient visit following ProHealth Care policies & procedures. Assures that clinical documentation supports charges that are processed.
• Supervise support staff in the delivery of SLP services following regulatory and professional standards.
• Accept assignments at various locations within the department/service when necessary.

What You Will Do:

Provides evaluation and treatment for patients who have communication and swallowing impairments in collaboration with other health care practitioners and the rehab team. Responsible for directing and supervising the delivery of speech pathology care of assigned patients.


What you will need:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • CCC (Certification of Clinical Competence) for Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Current Speech Language Pathologist WI License.
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • 1-2 years of related speech language pathology experience.
  • Valid state of WI Driver's license with acceptable driving record.
