Schedule Details: Every other Weekend 5am - 1:30pm, one assigned holiday per year.
0700-12pm you will be covering Microbiology to include rapid testing in micro, limited culture specimen setup, and preparation of stat gram stains.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive, verify, and process patient specimens according to laboratory procedures.
Centrifuge specimens and aliquot (pour off) samples as required.
Perform rapid testing in accordance with established protocols.
Maintain accurate specimen identification and documentation.
Follow all laboratory safety, quality, and infection control procedures.
Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient work area.
Perform other laboratory support duties as assigned.  

 

About Us:

 

ProHealth Care offers a system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County. The laboratory performs over 8 million tests annually.

 

Our Lab services operate state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology.  ProHealth Care offers a vibrant outreach program, providing laboratory testing to numerous specialty hospitals, physician offices, nursing home, and assisted living facilities.  Our Pathologists and PhDs  work closely with lab employees to monitor quality, as well as identify, access, and implement new technology.   The Laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).

What You Will Do:

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant – Microbiology Technician (CLA-Micro Tech) is responsible for accurate and efficient receipt, processing, and distribution of laboratory specimens from inpatients, outpatients, and outside clients in Microbiology.  The CLA-Micro Tech maintains proficiency of the laboratory and hospital information systems, performs and results waived and non-waived testing. The CLA-Micro Tech processes primary culture specimens by inoculating various growth media, preparing slides for gram smear, and packaging specimens and inoculated cultures for transport to the reference lab. The CLA-Micro Tech acts as a liaison between the laboratory and nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare providers and the reference laboratory. 

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience preferred
