Our Purchasing and Supply Chain teams play a critical role in ensuring our hospitals, clinics and support areas have the supplies, equipment, instruments, logistics support and resources needed to provide safe, timely and high-quality care.
We are seeking a strategic, collaborative and highly experienced Director of Supply Chain and Logistics lead this important function across ProHealth Care.
What You Will Do
The Director of Purchasing and Supply Chain will lead and direct all facets of supply chain management across ProHealth Care, including purchasing, logistics, materials management, equipment coordination, patient transport, warehousing, storage solutions, inventory management, material forecasting, sterile processing, capacity planning, sourcing, master scheduling, inventory control and financial costing.
This leader will provide system-wide direction and cross-functional leadership to ensure purchasing, supply chain, sterile processing and logistics services meet and exceed the needs of ProHealth Care’s hospitals, clinics, support teams and affiliates.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide senior leadership and day-to-day oversight for purchasing, planning, warehousing, inventory control, materials management, logistics, patient transport and sterile processing leadership teams.
- Lead the activities of all functions involved in the purchasing, planning, warehousing, distribution and control of materials, supplies and equipment.
- Develop and implement strategies, policies, procedures and team structures that optimize value, reduce risk and create a customer-focused, high-performing supply chain and logistics function.
- Manage inventory programs and establish controls to ensure the organization is operating at a high level of performance based on key metrics, service standards and minimized supply chain risk.
- Provide senior leadership to sterile processing teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory and certifying requirements related to decontamination, cleaning, preparation and management of instruments, equipment and materials used across the health system.
- Provide leadership to transportation services responsible for patient transport, supply transport, selected storage functions and other logistics activities.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, ethical standards and organizational policies related to procurement and supplier management.
- Lead negotiation efforts for major contracts and direct supplier contract design, development and management.
- Oversee supplier relationships, vendor performance and group purchasing organization partnerships.
- Develop and continuously improve the organization’s use of group purchasing programs, supplier programs and value analysis processes.
- Partner with Finance to identify, implement, monitor and validate expense reduction initiatives and other supply chain value opportunities.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, rationalize spend, identify revenue or cost savings opportunities, and communicate budget variances with action plans as needed.
- Establish annual goals and objectives, including stretch targets, in alignment with organizational priorities and manage performance toward achievement.
- Participate in new and existing product planning processes to ensure timely acquisition of supplies, equipment and materials.
- Oversee the planning, design, implementation and optimization of ProHealth Care’s ERP system as it relates to purchasing and supply chain operations.
- Work closely with Biomedical Engineering and Finance in support of asset management programs.
- Adopt, model and mentor Just Culture principles, ensuring quality, safety, accountability and continuous improvement are embedded in leadership and team practices.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills while coaching leaders and teams to do the same.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
What You Will Need:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, supply chain, materials management, or related operational leadership required.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct management experience in a health care, medical device, or similarly complex operational environment required.
- Experience leading large teams and complex cross-functional operations required.
- Experience with purchasing systems, ERP platforms, supplier management, contract negotiation, inventory management, and financial analysis strongly preferred.
- Health care supply chain, sterile processing, logistics, or materials management leadership experience strongly preferred.
Certification
- Certified Purchasing Manager certification preferred.
